Original members of DG Cares. 

  • Lisa Furstenau  - past PTA president at Whittier, parent of 4 children who are or have been students in District 58 and current VP at Herrick Middle school and part-time library aide at Whittier school.
  • Kelly Johnson - Whittier parent and former PTA president
  • Mary Sustar - Whittier parent
  • Jim and Cindy Venckus - Whittier parents
  • David Deal - Whittier parent
  • TJ Furstenau - Whittier parent, technical advisor, and webmaster

I say original members because we held the initial meeting.  Our group continues to grow daily and it truly never occurred to us, before we were asked, to put our names on the website.

Raising awareness for strong schools and for a strong community with outreach including dialogue in the news media and in the use of our website to educate voters.

Downers Grove Cares consists of Downers Grove residents who care about the future of our public schools and our community.  Downers Grove Cares was created in November 2008 with six members, and our numbers are growing.  We provide a consistent voice for the future of Downers Grove.
